How do I keep an app I built with Claude Code or Cursor private?
Keep it on your computer and publish it privately. Paste one prompt into Claude Code
or Cursor: the agent installs qURL, publishes your app with no public URL, and invites
the people you name by email, or lets people ask for access. Strangers have nothing to
find. Keep your app’s own login for anything sensitive.
Your options
What “private” means, tool by tool.
qurl.link
qURL CLI or your AI
Where it runs
Your computer.
Who can reach it
People you invite or approve. Then the network it was opened from, for that
visit.
To keep it private
The app gets no public address. Other devices on the visitor’s network can reach
it during that visit.
Host
Vercel, Netlify
Where it runs
Their servers, after you deploy.
Who can reach it
Anyone with the URL, unless you turn on access protection.
To keep it private
Turn on access protection.
Quick tunnel
ngrok, Cloudflare
Where it runs
Your computer.
Who can reach it
Anyone with the URL.
To keep it private
Set up sign-in rules yourself.
Tailscale Serve
Tailscale client
Where it runs
Your computer.
Who can reach it
Authorized Tailscale users.
To keep it private
Each viewer needs a Tailscale account and client.
This is each tool’s quick way to share. Most of them have more settings you can turn
on. With qURL, private is how the app is published.
With your agent
One prompt. Your agent does the setup.
Share it from Claude Code or Cursor
Paste this into your agent.
It works in Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, or any agent that can read a URL and
run commands.

Read this skill and use qURL to share the app I'm running locally.

Tell it who gets in.
Give it the email addresses of the people you want. It sends invitations only to
recipients you authorize. They verify their email and save a passkey in their
browser. Or let people ask for access and approve each one.
Take it back when you’re done.
Ask “Who has access? Remove Sam.” It checks the grants and removes the access
you choose. qurl stop <id> takes the whole app offline.
Want your agent to reach for qURL every time? Save the skill in your project. For
Cursor, save it under ~/.agents/skills/qurl/. Codex starts with network
access off, so save the skill file for it first.
